The Word of the Day is Fear
Foundational Scripture
Proverbs 31:30 (CEB)
“Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
In today’s culture, much of our attention is placed on outward appearance, social approval, and temporary achievements. Yet Scripture reminds us that what truly endures is not external charm but a heart that reveres God. The fear of the Lord centers our lives on what is eternal rather than what is fleeting.
Another proverb expresses it this way, “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Fear (in the biblical sense) is not terror or dread but a deep reverence, awe, and respect for God that shapes how we live.
When the Bible speaks about fearing God, it is describing a posture of the heart. It is the recognition that God is holy, sovereign, loving, and worthy of our devotion. This kind of fear is not meant to push us away but to draw us closer to God. A healthy fear of God aligns our priorities. It helps us measure our decisions not by popularity or convenience but by faithfulness. In a world that often rewards appearance over character, reverence for God anchors us in a deeper identity. The person who fears the Lord understands that life is lived before the presence of God. That awareness transforms ordinary moments into sacred ones—how we treat others, how we speak, how we serve, and how we respond when no one else is watching. Charm fades. Beauty changes. Status shifts. But a life rooted in reverence for God carries a lasting influence that outlives trends and seasons. True strength is found in a heart that honors God above all else. The word of the day is “Fear”.

Guard me from chasing temporary approval and anchor my identity in You. May my life reflect a quiet strength that comes from walking in awe of Your goodness and faithfulness.
