The Word of the Day is Preparation
Foundational Scripture: Isaiah 40:3 (MSG)
“Thunder in the desert! ‘Prepare for God’s arrival! Make the road straight and smooth, a highway fit for our God.’”
Intro Thought
Preparation is the bridge between promise and purpose. In every season of waiting or uncertainty, God is shaping your heart, refining your focus, and strengthening your faith. Before every great move of God comes a call to prepare — not in panic or fear, but in faith and obedience. “Before God does something through you, He always does something in you.”
Preparation is the action or process of making something ready or being made ready for use or consideration; it is the intentional work that precedes fulfillment.
Isaiah’s message calls us to prepare the way of the Lord — to clear the clutter from our hearts and make room for God’s presence. Preparation is not about being busy, but about being ready. It’s the quiet work of aligning our thoughts, actions, and attitudes with God’s will. When we prepare, we partner with God’s timing and position ourselves for His promises. Preparation invites transformation — it makes space for what God desires to build in and through us.
Reflection Questions
1. What areas of my life need spiritual preparation for what God is calling me to do next?
2. How can I make my heart a “straight and smooth road” for God’s presence today?
3. What distractions or habits might I need to clear away so that I can better hear God’s voice?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to prepare the way for Your presence in my life. Help me to clear away anything that keeps me from You. Teach me to wait with faith and to work with purpose. Let my heart be ready for Your leading, my hands open for Your work, and my spirit attentive to Your voice. Prepare me, Lord, for what You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Amen and Amen.
Takeaway:
Preparation is not wasted time—it’s sacred time where God shapes you for what’s ahead.
