The Word of the Day is Pursue
Scripture – Psalm 23:6 (CEB)
“Yes, goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the LORD’s house as long as I live.”
Introductory Thought
In a world that constantly tells you to chase more, do more, and become more, it’s easy to feel like life is one long pursuit. But what if the greatest truth is not about what you are chasing—but about what is chasing you? “Sometimes what you are seeking is already seeking you—just keep walking in faith.” Pursue means to follow with intention, persistence, and purpose; to go after something with commitment and direction actively.
Inspirational Reflection
You are not running after purpose alone—purpose, goodness, and faithful love are running after you. Even on your hardest days, when progress feels slow and direction feels unclear, God’s goodness has not lost your address. It is actively pursuing you. Psalm 23:6 offers a powerful reversal of perspective. Many live under the assumption that they must chase blessings, favor, or peace. This mindset can lead to exhaustion, comparison, and even discouragement. However, this scripture reveals that goodness and faithful love are not distant rewards—they are active forces pursuing your life.
This means you are not forgotten. You are not overlooked. You are not behind. Even when life feels like a struggle—whether navigating personal hardship, ministry demands, emotional weight, or uncertainty about the future—God’s faithful love is still in motion toward you. It does not pause when you stumble. It does not withdraw when you doubt. It pursues consistently.
Culturally, many are conditioned to measure worth by productivity and progress. But spiritually, worth is already established, and pursuit is already happening on your behalf. The invitation is not to strive harder, but to trust deeper. At the same time, this truth does not eliminate your responsibility—it clarifies it. Since goodness and love are pursuing you, you are called to pursue alignment. Pursue growth. Pursue healing. Pursue purpose, not from a place of lack, but from a place of being loved and covered.
To pursue, then, is not about frantic chasing—it is about intentional living. It is about walking in step with what God has already set in motion for your life.
Reflection Questions
1. Where in my life have I been striving instead of trusting God’s pursuit of me?
2. What would change if I truly believed that goodness and faithful love are actively pursuing me?
3. How can I intentionally pursue purpose, healing, or growth from a place of security rather than fear?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for pursuing me with goodness and faithful love every day. In moments when I feel unseen or uncertain, remind me that I am never outside of Your care. Help me to release the pressure to strive and instead walk confidently in Your promises. Give me the wisdom and courage to pursue what aligns with Your will for my life. Let my steps be guided by trust, not fear. I receive Your love, and I commit to living with purpose and intention. Amen. Amen and Amen.
Takeaway
