The Word of the Day is More

Foundational Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:8 (CEB)

"God has the power to provide you with more than enough of every kind of grace. That way, you will have everything you need always and in everything to provide more than enough for every kind of good work."

Introductory Thought

We live in a culture driven by the pursuit of more. More income.

More followers.

More visibility.

More security.

The word more has become a measuring stick for success. If we do not have more, we assume we are behind.

But Scripture invites us to reconsider what more really means.

Inspirational Reflection

Paul reminds the Corinthians that God provides “more than enough of every kind of grace.” Notice what is being multiplied—it is not wealth, applause, or position. It is grace. And that grace is given with purpose: so that we will always have what we need to accomplish every good work assigned to us. God’s version of more is not about accumulation; it is about activation. In ministry, leadership, service, and daily life, there are moments when the demands exceed the supply. The counseling session stretched longer than expected. The soldier navigating a crisis. The family is facing grief. The congregation needs steady guidance. In those moments, we may silently wonder, “Do I have enough?”

This text answers with confidence: Yes. And more.

God’s provision is not random; it is strategic. God gives more grace so we can extend more compassion. God gives us more strength so we can endure longer. God gives more wisdom so we can lead with clarity. Heaven’s abundance is never meant for hoarding; it is meant for holy overflow. When we shift our understanding, we realize that God’s “more” is not about personal gain—it is about purposeful generosity. The grace you receive today is designed to meet someone else’s needs tomorrow. And here is the comfort: the supply does not depend on your capacity. It depends on God's power. If you feel stretched, remember—stretching increases capacity. If you feel pressed, remember—pressure produces perseverance. If you feel emptied, remember—God specializes in refilling surrendered vessels. You do not have to chase more. You simply have to trust the One who already has it.

“God’s ‘more’ is not about accumulation—it’s about activation.”

More means a greater amount or degree of something, exceeding what is necessary. More is divine overflow given for purposeful service.

Reflection Questions

1. Where in my life am I equating “more” with success instead of service?

2. Do I trust that God has already provided enough grace for my current assignment?

3. How can I allow what God has poured into me to overflow into someone else this week?

Prayer

Generous God,

Thank You for being the source of more than enough grace. When I feel inadequate, remind me that Your supply exceeds my limits. Teach me to stop chasing accumulation and start embracing activation. Let what You place in my hands become a blessing in someone else’s life. Fill me so I can serve faithfully, love deeply, and give freely. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Amen and Amen.
