The Word of the Day is Love
1 John 4:19 (MSG)
“We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.”
A Thought on Love
Love is the beginning of everything God does—and the beginning of everything we are called to do. Before you spoke a word, took a step, or prayed your first prayer, God had already declared His love for you. God's love is not reactive; it is initiating, pursuing, and constant. God loved us first—and because of that, we are freed and empowered to love others in ways that go beyond our own strength. God’s love isn’t fragile. It remains unchanged by emotions or circumstances. It is steady enough to catch you, strong enough to carry you, and gentle enough to heal the places you’d rather hide. When we allow God's love to shape our identity, we stop loving others from a place of emptiness and begin loving from a place of overflow. Love becomes our witness. It becomes the quiet strength that moves us toward forgiveness, patience, and compassion. It becomes the way we show the world what God is like—because when we love, we are simply mirroring the One who first loved us.
“Love is the quiet strength that changes everything it touches.”
Love is a selfless, steady commitment to seek the good of another—rooted in God’s unchanging love for us. Love starts with God, fills our hearts through His grace, and flows outward to the people around us as a living testimony of God's presence.
Reflection Questions
1. Where in my life do I need to pause and receive God’s love today?
2. Who is God inviting me to love with more patience, compassion, or grace?
3. What is one practical way I can demonstrate love this week?
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me first, fully, and without hesitation. Let Your love settle deep into my heart and reshape the way I see myself and others. Teach me to love generously, courageously, and consistently. May my words and actions reflect Your heart in every place You send me today. Amen. Amen and Amen.
Takeaway
Love flows freely when we remember that God loved us first. The word of the day is “Love”.
