The Word of the Day is Light
Scripture: John 1:9–13 (MSG)
In seasons when the path feels uncertain, or the world feels dim, we are reminded that light does not need permission to shine—it simply arrives and changes everything.
“Light doesn’t argue with darkness; it reveals what is true and invites us to see.”
Light is the life-giving presence of God that reveals truth, restores hope, and calls us into a new way of seeing and being. John writes that “the Life-Light was the real thing”—a light that shines on everyone, not selectively, not conditionally. This Light comes into the world offering more than visibility; it offers belonging. Though many may overlook or resist it, those who receive the Light discover a new identity—not earned by effort or status, but given by grace. To walk in the Light is to live awake to God’s presence, shaped not by fear or darkness, but by truth, hope, and love. The Light does not just show us where to go; it shows us who we are becoming.
Reflection Questions
1. Where do you notice God’s Light gently revealing truth or inviting growth in your life right now?
2. What might it look like for you to receive the Light—not just understand it, but welcome it personally?
3. How can you practically reflect God’s Light to someone who may be walking through darkness?
Prayer
God of Light,
Thank You for shining into our lives with truth, grace, and hope. When we feel unseen or uncertain, remind us that Your Light has already found us. Help us to receive You fully, to live as Your children, and to reflect Your Light with humility and love. Where there is darkness in us or around us, shine again. We trust You to guide our steps and renew our hearts. Amen. Amen and Amen.
