The Word of the Day is Disciples

John 8:31–32 (MSG)

“If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.”

Disciples: Walking in Truth and Freedom

To be a disciple is to live as a lifelong learner of Jesus—someone who doesn’t simply believe, but follows, practices, and grows. Jesus makes it clear that discipleship is not a moment but a journey. It’s the daily commitment to stay close to His teachings, to let His voice shape our choices, and to lean into His truth even when the path is challenging. The blessing of discipleship is freedom. As we remain with Jesus—holding to His Word, trusting His ways, and embracing Him as the truth—we discover a freedom that the world cannot give and cannot take away. Truth becomes more than information; it becomes transformation. It becomes the light that steadies our steps and the grace that strengthens our hearts. Disciples are not perfect people; they are committed people. They are men and women who fall, rise, follow, learn, and continue. As we continue to walk with Jesus, His truth continually sets us free. “A disciple is not one who has arrived, but one who continues to follow.” By definition, a disciple is a follower, learner, or student who is committed to the teachings, practices, and example of a chosen leader.

Summary

To be a disciple of Jesus is to continue learning, growing, and living out His truth. When we follow Him faithfully, we experience freedom that transforms our lives from the inside out.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me to follow You. Teach me to remain in Your Word and to walk in Your truth with courage and consistency. Shape my heart, my thoughts, and my steps so that my life reflects Your love and freedom. Help me grow as Your disciple today and every day. Amen. Amen and Amen.
